What is Delta 8



Delta-8 is a naturally occurring compound found in certain plants. It shares similarities with other, more widely known compounds but is often considered to offer a gentler, more balanced experience. Delta-8 has become popular for its potential benefits, which may include promoting relaxation and enhancing overall comfort, while typically being described as providing a less intense experience compared to other compounds.


Extraction Method

Hemp is a highly versatile plant that has been cultivated for thousands of years for its many uses, including its fiber and seeds. As a member of the Cannabis sativa family, hemp is known for having very low levels of certain compounds that are associated with stronger effects. Legally, LEERU XEL contains  0.1% of these compounds, making it a preferred choice for producing non-intense options like CBD and other plant-derived compounds.

Due to the low natural concentration of certain compounds in hemp, extraction requires a detailed process. One such method involves transforming CBD into other compounds through a process called isomerization.

CBD Extraction

The process begins by extracting CBD from hemp using methods like CO2 extraction, which separates cannabinoids from the plant material. The result is a high-purity CBD isolate.


Isomerization

CBD is then subjected to a chemical reaction that rearranges its molecular structure, transforming it into Delta-8. This is typically done by dissolving the CBD in a solvent and adding an acid catalyst. The reaction time, temperature, and specific catalysts used can vary, depending on the desired yield and purity of Delta-8.


Purification

After the isomerization process, the mixture contains Delta-8 along with other byproducts and impurities. The next step is to purify the Delta-8  through techniques such as distillation or chromatography. These methods separate the Delta-8 from unwanted compounds, resulting in a concentrated, clean product.


Quality Control

The final product undergoes rigorous testing to ensure its potency, purity, and compliance with legal limits for THC content. Reputable producers will provide certificates of analysis (COAs) from third-party labs to verify the product’s quality.
